Goal: The goal of the course is to familiarize students with current topics and results in computer science, with a special focus on software project management.

Course description: The course provides an introduction to software project management through practical examples of real-world projects, relevant definitions, and applicable standards. It presents typical project structures and organizational models, and guides students through the transformation of an initial idea into a structured project using well-established processes. The curriculum covers project phase models, including the waterfall model and the V-model, as well as fundamental planning and control concepts such as the control cycle and the overall planning process. Students learn how to create work breakdown structures, define tasks, allocate resources, and perform time planning using tools such as Gantt charts and network plans. The course also addresses budget planning, project controlling and supervision, the use of control instruments, project status monitoring, reporting techniques, project meetings, and the preparation of project documentation and meeting minutes.
